Vicentina Coast

Named Costa Vicentina, the stretch of coast between Odeceixe and Burgau is a different Algarve, where preserved nature has a strong and wild character, which translates into landscapes of stunning grandeur.

This area is part of the Natural Park that begins further north in the southwest Alentejo and is the largest stretch of coastline in Portugal subject to protection. The beaches follow one another, sometimes with long sandy beaches as far as the eye can see, or smaller ones framed by grandiose schist and limestone cliffs. The rough sea produces a natural symphony, which serves as a soundtrack to this walk by the sea.

We leave from Odeceixe, the northernmost point, a beach that develops on both sides of a stream, providing sea and river baths. Here we find little frequented sands, some almost deserted with little known accesses such as Adegas Beach reserved for the practice of naturism. Vale dos Homens, Carriagem, Amoreira and Monte Clérigo are other beaches to discover between cliffs covered with vegetation, which here and there offer fabulous panoramas of this rugged coast.
